This past weekend was one of the best I have had in a long time. Friday night was family night, as I have already elaborated upon; it was wonderful. Little did I know, however, that the best was yet to come. Saturday marked Charles and I officially being together for six months. Though I realize that six months isn't that big of an accomplishment, it gave us a reason to celebrate. We had discussed going to a movie or dinner or the mall or something, but, in the end, we decided that he would come over and hang out. Bobby was already coming over to hang out with Kaitlyn, and we tend to have fun as a group. He surprised me with roses (they smell so good), and we watched Elf. After the movie, we just hung out and talked. We had some of the best conversations we have ever had. We talked about God and our relationship and our lives. The night was wonderful. It was just the beauty of feeling so comfortable with someone and caring for them so much. The beauty of being with them. God has blessed me so much with him. Then, on Sunday, I went to his house for the afternoon. We ate lunch, and then we (his parents, his brother, his brother's girlfriend, him and me) walked around on their 60 acres, looking for the perfect Christmas tree. Once we found it, they cut it down and carried it back to the shop (their temporary living facility). Then, we all made Christmas ornaments. I made a very long paper chain, Charles made airplanes out of candy, Mrs. Carolyn decorated pine cones, Paul Michael and Kayla painted trucks, and Mr. Paul put up the tree. We all drank hot cider and listened to Christmas music. It was the most quaint, fun thing I have done in a while. It was absolutely wonderful.
As if all this wasn't enough, I got to see Ms. Loren Bruce this weekend as well. She spoke in my Sunday School class, and I really enjoyed hearing from her. I miss her wisdom and depth in life. I am excited for her to be home for Christmas, and for the girls to get back together again. I miss my girls.
Okay so I realize that I just painted the picture of a perfect weekend, and I feel that I should add this disclaimer: This weekend did have its down points, I did mess up, and, no, every moment with Charles was not like a fairy tale. However, with all things considered, I had a great weekend.
